How to set
up a website as news channel source step-by-step:
1) First
enter the exact URL of the website including http:// or https://, leaf the
other lines empty, click save, go to the news page and click refresh. All the information
available as text will be shown in the list of news items. (If content is
missing, check if the content is embedded by javascript ajax or iframes. If
yes, you have to search for the appropriate URL.)
[Example:
https://www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/sdmap/summary.php]
2) Find out
after which line the relevant news begins. Often, it is a headline like
"Information" or "Traffic News" etc. If you don't find such
a text, it doesn't matter - you can leave the appropriate field empty. However,
more unwanted information will be scanned without.
[Example: LOCATION]
3) Find out
after which line the relevant news ends. Often, it is a footer like
"Contacts" or "Date" etc. If you don't find such a text, it
doesn't matter - you can leave the appropriate field empty. However, more
unwanted information will be scanned without.
[Example: Contacts ]
4) Find out
which html-tags enclose a news item. Enter these html-tags as start-tag and
end-tag for news item. You can use the chrome browser on a PC to analyze the
structure of a webpage: Click the news item, make a right click and choose
"Inspect elements". There you see the html-structure of the document
and you can easy find out, which html-tag is at the beginning of your news
item.
[Example: <tr>]
5) Find out
which html-tags closes a news item.
[Example:
</tr>]
Now, you
set up the WebSite as a news channel and you can test it by pressing the
Refresh-Button at the news-list.
Please feel
